Doctor Doctor
The doctor was very good and really spoke to Arthur and involved him in the consultation, and Arthur responded enthusiastically by giving a detailed description of how we came to find that we had nits and what we had done about them. At this point I intervened to let Dr know that no, we weren't really there about the nits, and Arthur got on to the itchy bit. He has scratch marks and what look like little friction burns in some of the places his fingers roam to. The plan is to give antihistamines for the next few days and if they don't help then take bloods on Monday. Doctor is young and so hopefully not too far out of a hospital placement that required regular practise, and prescribed ametop for us to apply beforehand. The best result will be if the piriton stops the itching, because it will mean it's just a hangover from the pox and, perhaps, a psychological roaming itch from the nits. There aren't any other symptoms suggesting liver trouble at the moment.

Glad to hear Arthur had a positive doctor's appointment for a change! I often like the young ones, too, their general knowledge of everything seems to be more present than in many older ones...guess that makes sense, too.
Fingers crossed the antihystamines will do the trick.
As to the possibility of liver related itching without any other signs like jaundice etc.: I would think that like any other bug or virus, the pocks will have made some of his
liver levels rise and remain elevated for a while (without 'damaging', just showing the body's struggle for health during the pocks).
So even if the itching was liver-related, maybe this would not necessarily mean it to be BA-related?
( Just a thought and possibly worthless - hopefully, the itching will stop anyway! But thinking of the chicken pocks made me remember that when my mom had yet to be discovered mono, her GP asked her if she had a drinking problem due to her elevated liver levels... And before his pneumonia was discovered, my dad's liver levels were so high a doctor strongly suspected lesions. Both stayed up a bit, but than came down again nicely.)
Anyway, hope you won't have to worry about the itching much longer!
Love,
Hannah x.x.x.x.
